Is paint with primer as good as paint and primer applied separately?

No..think about it..all primer is is a sealer for drywall or an extra coat to neutralize an unwanted colour. Primer is just cheap paint. How could that be a good thing to mix with a decent paint? I only use primer when needed and a good quality paint...doesn't matter the name brand, just a good mid-range paint. I only prime when absolutely necessary...(new drywall)...I like to use a high hide primer when changing from a dark to a light colour on the walls. Is paint with primer as good as paint and primer applied separately?
A friend of mine used the Behr paint with primer and the color of the swatch matched the wall perfectly. She had a very light wall color before that, so that may make a difference.

I JUST used behr paint with primer and it covered over wood panneling with one coat (which is amazing) but... the color changed after about 3 days in both rooms that I used it in. I got a light gray and after 3 days it turned a purple/blue color. I hated the color it turned to so I just finished repainting both of the rooms today lol.
Probably not. I have not used the paint with primer, but if it really was as good why wouldn't all paints have it an just skip the primer. I'll bet professional painters don't use it either.
I don't trust paint with primer for everyday painting projects. I would still go with primer first, followed with paint.
