Yes you can use different brands. Just make sure you still prepare properly the wall. It really depends on if the wall has a sheen to it or is dirty. My website explains all of this :http://www.anyoncanfaux.com . You do not have to have flat primer to flat paint, there is not other type of primer so don't worry. Do your prep well, wait allotted time on can for primer to dry and paint with the best paint you can afford. Have fun.
My dad is a painter, and I know that the brand name doesn't matter. However, the finish is very important. If you used a flat primer, you have to use flat paint, same with eggshell, semi gloss, etc. But the company who makes it doesn't matter one bit.
Make sure your primer and your top coat are the same type of paint
Don't put waterbased paint over oilbased primer or visavis
make sure the primer is dry before painting over it.....
its fine, you can use any brand primer with any brand paint. Just make sure your using the right type of primer with your paint or vice versa.
ive actually mix paint at the painting company i used to work for and its perfectly fine, the primer can be one brand and the final coats could be a totally different brand...
I think you should be able to use them both. We always do A LOT of construction/home remodeling at my house and we used different brands of paint than we did primer, so I think you should be fine.
Absolutely! Most hired painters use different brands for primer/finish
yes its alright to use any paint

yes i think yes because my cousin paints and he use different brand of paint that the primer
