How durable is primer paint?

Can an interior Primer paint be used as a 'top coat' in a kitchen for a few months until later painting? How durable is primer paint?
Uncovered primer has a tendency to discolor. If you are using it in a kitchen, it can get covered with airborne grease and moisture and will lose all of its adhesive properties. Short answer-cover it quickly with finish paint. Hope this helps. How durable is primer paint?
primer, when applied to a clean dry surface is actually pretty good provided that you immediately protect it with another coat of paint. If you need to use the base color of primer, you can always cover it with a 'clear' coat of paint. Good luck!
For a few months it will be ok. However, at least one undercoat should be applied before you eventually put a finish coat on.
