good luckWhat type of primer and paint should i use to repaint an exterior metal door?
It depends on what is already on the door. If an oil base paint was used originally, then a water base paint won't work this time. If you aren't sure, I would use an oil base exterior enamel. What type of primer and paint should i use to repaint an exterior metal door?
Metal specific primer and a good latex enamel.
You can use any primer you want, reguardless or water base or oil.If it has rust, it would be better to use a rustoleum primer(which is oil) it contains a rust inhibitor or a oil based primer. From there you can top coat with any exterior paint you choose oil or latex, doesn't matter.
oil and then oil and yes Dunn Edwards is the best exterior oil based paint in the US market.
Generally oil based paints work the best. Go to your local Home depot, they have a whole section you can choose from.
