We just added a brand new bathroom and my wife forgot to use the paint primer. She just used regular paint although it looks nice.Do you have to use paint primer on new sheetrock before painting?
It won't for long. It will flash. Mud joints absorb paint at a different rate then the actual drywall, and the wall is not sealed beneath the paint. I would recommend a coat of primer over the paint that's on there, followed by a coat or two of finish, but it's your call. Good luck.Do you have to use paint primer on new sheetrock before painting?
You don't have to do anything, but you will be sorry if you paint that drywall with no primer. The paint will start peeling off in less than a year. Then you have a real mess to clean up. They sell paint with primer in it now so just buy that or mix your own, but use some primer.
