Primer is exactly that,it only primes the surface ready for the next coat and should be a very thin coat. What you really need is primer/filler or a surfacer coat.In the trade we use self etching primer to acid etch a good adhesion to the steel before spraying a surface or high build coat to give sufficient thickness to be able to rub the filler coat down and lose any blemishes/imperfections.The actual finish coat is usually thin as well as all the hard work has gone into the prep and rubdowns.Painting a car only takes an hour or so,rub down, filling and prep takes 90% of the time,sometimes,days..you need a can of primer/filler or high build.
A micron is equal to one millionth of a meter, or about a tenth of the size of a droplet of mist or fog. It is particulate smaller than the naked eye can see. To give you another idea for reference, one single strand of hair is about 70 -120 microns in thick.

In short, a 75 micron thick coat will probably look like you've barely applied anything!
