I have read the product information on primer, all of them say that it seals or provides a base for finish coat of paint, but no where can I find out how or what makes it work in that way.
Actual experience tells me , primer is needeed on raw drywall. If you want to have a base of white , why use primer and not standard paint, both can be tinted
So, to restate what makes primer, primer and not paint? Chemical and or material make upWhat is the chemical difference between latex Primer paint and laytex or acrylic wall paint?
Primer gives a surface more ';tooth'; for the final paint to stick to. This gives the final paint a more even appearance. You don't need a primer for interior walls, but it might cause you to have to repaint the wall with your paint more than one time.
